Art Courses

Me and Mine Art Discovery

This class is designed for the littlest artists and their adults. Appropriate for ages 3 through 6. In this hour long class Megan will lead you and your young child through art concepts and seasonal themes using picture books, process based art, and sensory experiences. Explore and create with your child in this developmentally appropriate class where the journey of creation is more important than the end product.

Art Exploration

This weekly class is designed for children who are ready to explore art on their own. Appropriate for ages 5 through 11. In this 2 hour long class child artists will learn the foundations of art and design, be introduced to artists throughout the world from history and today, and explore a variety of art materials. Megan puts an emphasis on the child as the artist. Note that finished artworks will be based on the child’s aesthetics and purposes for creation.

The materials used for this class rotate by week. The first class of the month the class will explore various drawing materials and skills. The second class will explore various types of sculpture. The third class will explore painting. The fourth class of the month will explore arts that are traditionally considered “craft” such as fiber arts, printmaking, bookbinding, etc

Visual Art Journeys

This weekly class is designed for kids and teens that are looking to deepen their art skills in particular areas. This class is appropriate for ages 10-18. This course meets two hours weekly for four weeks. Each course will focus on a bigger, more in depth project where students develop all their skills as artists, from idea creation to craftsmanship to reflection. Students will develop and create their own ideas, no two projects will be the same. Some art journeys I offer are: Creating Comics; Paper Mache Animals; Landscape Drawing and Painting; Drawing People; Hand Sewing Plushies; Book Making and Illustration; Paper Engineering (pop-up cards and books); Cardboard Sculptures
